Whatcom County man suspected of choking a child he knew

The Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a Ferndale man suspected of choking a child he was familiar with.

Jonah Lee Daniel Wilson, 26, was booked into Whatcom County Jail Tuesday, July 19, on suspicion of second-degree assault of a child. Jail records show Wilson was released later Tuesday on a $20,000 appearance bond.

Deputies responded June 16 to the report of alleged child abuse that had occurred in unincorporated Whatcom County after a child reported that they had been choked by a person that they knew, sheriff’s office spokesperson Deb Slater told The Bellingham Herald in an email.

Through the investigation, Slater reported that probable cause for assault of a child was developed against Wilson, Slater reported, and he turned himself in and was booked into jail Tuesday without incident.
