Woman reportedly robbed on Bellingham trail, as man sticks sharp object against her neck
A woman walking a Bellingham trail between apartments was reportedly robbed Saturday afternoon by an unidentified man who stuck a sharp object against her neck.
The Bellingham Police Department was called at 1:48 p.m. Saturday, April 16, to the 1300 block of Lakeway Drive for the report of the robbery, according to the department’s incident log.
The victim reported that she was walking the short trail between apartments to the 7-Eleven on Lakeway when the suspect, who has not yet been identified, stopped the victim and demanded money, Lt. Claudia Murphy told The Bellingham Herald in an email.
When the victim told the suspect that she did not have any money, he reportedly grabbed her, put a knife or sharp object to her neck and demanded money again, Murphy reported. The victim reportedly handed over her cash, and the man ran away toward the apartments.
The victim was not seriously injured in the incident, according to Murphy, though police noted a red mark on her neck where the knife or sharp object had been stuck.
Police are looking for the suspect, described as white man with longer dark brown hair and wearing a baseball cap, a long-sleeved shirt with red stripes and tan/khaki pants.
