Two Whatcom residents injured in crash outside Cle Elum

A pair of 20-year-old Whatcom County men were injured in a rollover crash on Interstate 90 east of Cle Elum.

At about 9:30 a.m. Sunday, June 28, Bellingham resident Blake A. Vargo was driving a 2003 Dodge pickup westbound on I-90 with Ferndale resident Korey C. Tiderington as a passenger when, according to Washington State Patrol, Vargo lost control of the vehicle.

Fast speeds apparently caused the truck to roll before coming to a stop on its wheels in the median, according to state patrol. Both men suffered injuries and were taken to Kittitas Valley Healthcare. Their conditions were not available Monday, June 29.

According to state patrol, both men were wearing seat belts; alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the crash. No other vehicles were involved.

Vargo was charged with speeding and third-degree driving with a suspended license, according to state patrol. The truck was totaled.
