Woman reportedly hits, kicks, bites and spits at 8 Bellingham hospital employees

A Las Vegas woman is suspected of hitting, kicking, biting and spitting at eight employees at St. Joseph hospital in Bellingham last weekend, including four nurses.

Bellingham Police booked Keiana M. Montgomery, 21, into Whatcom County Jail Sunday, Nov. 14, on suspicion of four counts of third-degree assault of a health care worker and four counts of fourth-degree assault. Jail records show she was released Monday on $250 cash bail.

Officers were called to the hospital at 2:11 a.m. Sunday for the report that Montgomery had assaulted four registered nurses, one behavioral health specialist and three security guards, according to Whatcom County Superior Court documents.

Police arrived to find Montgomery being restrained after the eight victims reported she became aggressive and began assaulting the security guards and nurses, hitting them, kicking them, biting them and spitting in their faces.

Though no serious injuries were listed in the court documents, some of the hospital employees were admitted to the hospital as patients, taking them away from the duties.

Court documents also noted that Montgomery had called 911 an hour earlier from the hospital and told an officer who contacted her on the phone that she told the responding officer that he or she “better get there quick or ‘someone’ would be committing some felonies.”
