Bellingham man suspected of sexually assaulting child he knew

A Bellingham man is suspected of sexually assaulting a child he is familiar with in 2016 in Ferndale.

The Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office booked Jacob Daniel Yeubanks, 20, into Whatcom County Jail on suspicion of charges including first-degree child rape and first-degree child molestation.

The sheriff’s office received a report on Sept. 17 of a child molestation that occurred in 2016 in Ferndale, sheriff’s office spokesperson Deb Slater told The Bellingham Herald.

An investigation developed probable cause against Yeubanks for child rape and molestation, Slater reported.

The sheriff’s office is not releasing the victim’s gender or age range.
