Bellingham man reportedly throws a knife at his neighbor, then returns with a gun
A man reportedly threw a knife at his neighbor during an argument last week in downtown Bellingham, then he left and returned with what appeared to be a gun and threatened to kill the neighbor.
Bellingham police booked Wayne Michael Rhoads, 26, into Whatcom County Jail Friday, Sept. 11, and jail records show he is being held in lieu of $25,000 bail while he is facing charges of first-degree assault and felony harassment.
Officers were called at approximately 7:40 a.m. Friday to the 1000 block of North State Street for the report of an assault, according to Whatcom County Superior Court documents.
Police spoke to the victim who said that he and Rhoads were arguing in the victim’s apartment when Rhoads pulled out a knife and threw it, lacerating the victim’s stomach and sticking in the wall, according to court documents.
Rhoads was forced out of the apartment and went to his own apartment, where he grabbed what appeared to be a black handgun, documents state. Rhoads then reportedly returned to the victim’s apartment, waved the apparent gun around and said, “I’m going to (expletive) kill you” multiple times.
Officers located Rhoads and arrested him.
The Bellingham Police Department has not responded to The Bellingham Herald’s request for information, so it is not known if officers located a gun.
