Whatcom County man suspected of molesting pre-teenage girl
A Blaine man recently scheduled to be released from prison is back in jail after police suspect he had inappropriate sexual contact with an pre-teenage girl he was familiar with on multiple occasions two years ago.
Blaine police booked Kenneth Eugene Beaman, 44, into Whatcom County Jail Friday, Aug. 28, on suspicion of first-degree child molestation, and jail records show he is being held in lieu of $120,000 bail.
Officers were notified of the alleged sexual contact by Child Protective Services on Feb. 27, according to Whatcom County Superior Court documents filed Aug. 3, after a school counselor reported the abuse.
After investigators established probable cause, a warrant was issued for Beaman’s arrest on Aug. 4.
At the time of the investigation, Beaman was incarcerated at Stafford Creek Corrections Center on unrelated convictions and was scheduled to be released in August, court documents state.
Beaman was located and arrested in Shelton, Blaine Police Department Sgt. Michael Munden told The Bellingham Herald in an email, and on Friday, Blaine officers took custody of Beaman and transported him to Whatcom County Jail.
According to court records, Beaman has multiple previous felony convictions for forgery, identity theft, possession of stolen property, witness tampering, illegal possession of a firearm and possession of a controlled substance in Whatcom and Snohomish counties since 1994.
