Blaine man allegedly sexually assaulted 12-year-old, Whatcom sheriff’s office says
A Blaine man is suspected of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old he was familiar with approximately four years ago, the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office says.
Kekoa Bean Walker, 41, turned himself in Tuesday, Aug. 4, and was booked into Whatcom County Jail on suspicion of second-degree child rape, sheriff’s office spokesperson Deb Slater told The Bellingham Herald in an email.
Walker was released later Tuesday on $10,000 bail, jail records show.
The sheriff’s office began investigating Walker on May 21 after a report was filed with Child Protective Services, Slater reported, adding that the alleged assaults occurred when the victim was 12.
Whatcom County Superior Court records show that Walker has a previous conviction for arson from a 1995 when he was a juvenile in Snohomish County.
