Bellingham man resembling UFC champion allegedly kicks in Samish neighborhood door
Five Samish neighborhood residents reportedly awoke early Saturday to a man baring a striking resemblance to former UFC champion Chuck Liddell kicking in the front door to their home, walking in and begin yelling for a woman that didn’t live there.
Bellingham police booked Christopher Martin Rodenberger, 33, into Whatcom County Jail on suspicion of first-degree burglary and third-degree malicious mischief. Jail records show he is being held in lieu of $1,000 bail.
Officers were called at 4:40 a.m. Saturday to the 1000 block of 34th Street for a reported burglary in progress, Lt. Claudia Murphy told The Bellingham Herald in an email, after the five residents of the home awoke to their front door being kicked in and Rodenberger walking through and yelling.
Some of the residents reported that Rodenberger may have been carrying a gun as he “roamed through the house shouting about a female and knowing she was in there,” Murphy reported. No one by the name he was yelling lived at the house.
One of the victims reportedly recognized Rodenberger as having staying several houses away, according to Murphy, while another said Rodenberger had a distinctive blonde Mohawk haircut and closely resembled Liddell.
Officers contacted the owner of the home where Rodenberger was staying and found that he was inside, Murphy wrote. Police were able to convince Rodenberged to come out, and they placed him under arrest.
No gun was found and no motive for the burglary was discovered, Murphy said.
