Bellingham man suspected of molesting child he knows earlier this year
UPDATE Nov. 16, 2020: The case against Barry Thomas Moore was dismissed without prejudice and a previous no-contact order was terminated Oct. 22, 2020, in Whatcom County Superior Court.
A Bellingham man is suspected of engaging in inappropriate sexual contact with child he is familiar with over a period of time earlier this year.
Barry Thomas Moore, 64, was booked into Whatcom County Jail Wednesday July 1, on suspicion of charges including two counts of third-degree child molestation and communicating with a minor for immoral purposes. Jail records show he was released later that day on $10,000 bail.
Bellingham police were notified June 24 that a child sexual abuse report had been made by the victim, who was younger than 14, Lt. Claudia Murphy told The Bellingham Herald in an email.
An investigation revealed Moore engaged in inappropriate sexual contact with the victim on two separate occasions, Murphy said.
Moore also made the victim watch a sexual encounter between two adult males, Murphy said.
Court records show Moore is scheduled to be arraigned July 17.
