Whatcom deputies arrest Lynden man on suspicion of child molestation

A 22-year-old Lynden man was arrested early Friday, June 12, after deputies were called about a sex crime, according to Whatcom County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Kevin Hester.

Abraham Nolasco Bautista was arrested on suspicion of first-degree child molestation and booked into the Whatcom County Jail.

Deputies were called to a home northeast of Lynden for the report of a potential sex crime, Hester said.

The victim, who is under 12, was visiting the home and reported the incident to family, who called deputies, he said.

Bautista remains in jail with no bail set, according to the jail roster.
