Whatcom County man suspected of raping two young children over four-year period
A Whatcom County man is suspected of repeatedly raping two young children he was familiar with multiple times over a four-year period.
The Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday, May 20, booked Zxathian Drown, 21, into Whatcom County Jail on suspicion of first-degree child rape, and jail records show he is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.
Sheriff’s investigators were notified May 4 of the alleged sexual abuse after a 13- and a 15-year-old boy and girl notified their parents that Drown had sexually assaulted them between 2013 and 2017, Whatcom County Superior Court documents state.
The alleged attacks began when the siblings lived in Ferndale and continued after their parents moved to the county, documents state, and one time Drown allegedly sexually assaulted both at the same time. Drown would have been 18 in 2017.
Sheriff’s investigators contacted Drown at his home, where, after initially denying sexually abusing the young children, he later admitted to some of the assaults and provided a written confession, according to documents.
