Whatcom woman reportedly stabs ex-boyfriend for seeing other women
A Whatcom County man was treated at the hospital with a stab wound Monday, April 13, after an incident north of Bellingham when his ex-girlfriend reportedly became angered that he was seeing other women.
The Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office booked Brittany Raven Self, 31, into Whatcom County Jail on suspicion of second-degree assault (domestic violence), and jail records show she’s being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.
Deputies were called to the 700 block of Larson Road at 4 a.m. Monday for the report of the stabbing, according to information provided to The Bellingham Herald in an email from Chief Deputy Kevin Hester.
The 36-year-old victim reported that he was stabbed in the leg by his ex-girlfriend from Bellingham after she became upset that he was seeing other women, Hester reported.
The man was treated for the knife wound at the hospital, according to Hester, and deputies located Self in the 5000 block of Guide Meridian and arrested her without incident.
According to Whatcom County Superior Court records, Self is awaiting a July 27 jury trial on a charge of second-degree rape. That charge stems from an Oct. 26 incident in which she and a 36-year-old man met a female victim at a downtown Bellingham nightclub, drove her to a residence and sexually assaulted the victim after she became ill and asked to be driven home, court documents state.
Self also was convicted of harassment (threaten bodily injury) in 2014 and was sentenced to 364 days in jail, 334 of which were suspended., Whatcom County Superior Court records show.
