Lynden man suspected of distribution after search of home reveals heroin and shotgun

A 36-year-old Whatcom County man is suspected of distributing heroin after a search of his Lynden home reportedly uncovered 14 grams of the narcotic, items for selling drugs and a shotgun.

A joint operation by the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office and Snohomish Regional Drug Task Force resulted in Jeffrey Rean being booked into Whatcom County Jail Thursday afternoon, Feb. 27, on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute. Jail records show he was released on $80,000 bail a day later.

The Snohomish Regional Drug Task Force developed probable cause for Rean’s arrest, according to Whatcom County Superior Court records, and then worked with the Whatcom Sheriff’s Office to get a search warrant.

When Rean left his home in the 200 block of Pollman Circle Thursday morning in his Kia Sedona, law enforcement stopped it and placed Rean under arrest.

Law enforcement then served the search warrant on Rean’s home, where documents state they found a shotgun that Rean had asked a roommate to store, 14 grams of a substance that tested positive for heroin, plastic baggies commonly used for drug sale, a digital scale with drug residue and a suspected drug ledger recording drug sales.

Rean admitted the drugs and shotgun belonged to him and that he was selling heroin, court documents state.

Court records show Rean has previous convictions for assault, firearm possession, escape and malicious mischief in Whatcom, Kitsap, Snohomish, Lewis and Thurston counties between 1997 and 2006.
