National internet crimes task force helps arrest Ferndale man suspected of child porn

A Ferndale man has been arrested on suspicion of viewing, possessing and distributing child pornography after information was shared through the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

Ferndale police booked James Milton Marriott into Whatcom County Jail Wednesday, Feb. 19, on three counts of pornography depicting minors and is being held without bail, according to jail records.

Marriott was first identified through an investigation by the St. Cloud (Florida) Police Department, Ferndale spokesperson Riley Sweeney said in an email to The Bellingham Herald, and that information was shared through the task force.

Ferndale police, with the assistance of the Department of Homeland Security, served a search warrant on Marriott and his property, Riley reported, and that search revealed evidence of Marriott viewing, distributing and possessing depictions of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

In an interview, Marriott admitted to using an online application to sent pornographic images of a child and storing the images on his phone and online servers.
