Police investigating burglaries at Whatcom storage facility; seeking public’s help

The Blaine Police Department is asking for the public’s help with information that may lead them to who broke into 20 storage units two weeks ago and stole thousands of dollars worth of property.

Police were called at 1:17 p.m. Feb. 1 to the 900 block of Boblett Street near Blaine Primary School for a report of multiple burglaries occurring, according to the police log entry on the incident.

Twenty storage were broken into, Officer Timothy Richardson told The Bellingham Herald in an email. Police are still determining the total amount stolen, but Richardson wrote that several units appear to have “lost thousands of dollars worth of items.”

The business owners have notified potential victims, according to the log entry, while police continue to investigate.

Police believe the burglaries may have happened between Jan. 30 and Feb. 1 and during daytime business hours, Richardson reported.

“We are asking for the public’s assistance in the investigation,” Richardson wrote. “If anyone remembers seeing anything strange between Jan. 30th and Feb. 1st, please contact the Blaine Police Department at 360-332-6769 and ask to speak with an officer. Information can also be provided anonymously.”
