Bellingham police investigating 2 reports of someone firing BB or pellet gun downtown

Bellingham police are investigating after they were called to downtown two straight nights for reports of somebody firing a BB or pellet gun at cars, street signs and people in the area. There have been no reports of injuries.

Officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of north State Street at approximately 9:15 p.m. Monday, Feb. 3, and discovered a car window had been shattered and other damage to the body of the car consistent with BB or pellet impacts, Lt. Claudia Murphy told The Bellingham Herald in an email.

Nobody reported being hit by a BB or pellet in that incident, but the night earlier at 1:29 a.m. in the same area, they received a report from a caller hearing BBs ricocheting off street signs, Murphy wrote.

In that incident, Murphy reported that a person felt a BB hit their shoulder but was not injured.

No suspect information is available at this time, Murphy wrote.
