Whatcom man arrested on suspicion of molesting young girl

A 41-year-old man is suspected of molesting a young girl with whom he was familiar, the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office said.

Brian Robert Roedell was booked into Whatcom County Jail Thursday, Jan. 9, on suspicion of first-degree child molestation.

The alleged crime occurred in 2013, Sheriff Bill Elfo told The Bellingham Herald, but the young victim did not report it to her mother until December of 2018.

Roedell was scheduled to make his first appearance in Whatcom County Superior Court Friday afternoon.
