Family reportedly has meal out interrupted by masturbating man outside window
A family with two children had their meal at the Bellingham Denny’s interrupted by a man masturbating outside the window the family was seated at before the man threatened to kill an employee who attempted to get him to stop.
Bellingham police booked Brooks H. Philbrick into Whatcom County Jail Friday on suspicion of six counts of indecent exposure — including one to a child younger than 14 — resisting arrest and felony harassment. Jail records show Philbrick, who also was arrested on an outstanding warrant for public urination, is being held in lieu of $10,000 bail.
Officers were called to the restaurant at 2:30 p.m. Dec. 27 after the family saw Philbrick standing outside the window, facing the family’s table, exposing himself and masturbating while looking at the family, Lt. Claudia Murphy told The Bellingham Herald.
Two employees went outside to try to get Philbrick to stop, and Murphy said Philbrick began yelling at them and made a threat to “tear the face off” the adult man of the family. Murphy said Philbrick continued to make threats, telling one of the employees he would come back and kill them.
Police located Philbrick several blocks away, but Murphy said he refused commands to put his hands behind his back and attempted to pull away. Officers eventually were able to detain Philbrick in handcuffs.
