Gunman robs Bellingham barista

A man in all black robbed a barista at gunpoint Wednesday evening, Nov. 26, on Old Fairhaven Parkway.

Around 5:50 p.m. the armed man robbed I Wana Moka, 3100 Old Fairhaven Parkway, and told the employee to run, according to police radio broadcasts. She called police about five minutes later. They contacted her in the parking lot of the True Value hardware store parking lot across the street.

She said the man — white, in his 50s, 5-foot-8, with a medium build, dressed in all black, wearing a backpack — fled on a dark bicycle. The victim didn’t see what direction he rode off in. The gun was described as black.

Police dogs and a U.S. border helicopter were called in to help with the search.

Two other small Bellingham businesses, Westside Pizza and Man Pies, were robbed by an armed middle-aged white man in heavy clothes this month.
