The agency fined Jeffrey, Rodney and Carol Dejong, as well as Eaglemill Farms, on June 14.
They are accused of demolishing an 18,000-square-foot barn on the dairy’s property without having first performed the required asbestos survey, or asbestos abatement.
Then, on March 24, the debris from the demolition was illegally burned, according to the Northwest Clean Air Agency.
“No permit was requested nor would have been granted for this fire,” according to a summary of the agency’s investigation.
The agency will reduce the fine to $2,054 if the Dejongs follow certain conditions, including paying the fine within 30 days and not violating outdoor burning or asbestos and demolition regulations for five years.
