State orders Bellingham foot spa to stop giving unlicensed massages
The owner of a Bellingham spa has been ordered to stop giving massages because she and her workers were reportedly unlicensed.
The Washington State Department of Health issued the cease and desist order May 6 to Ping Li, owner of the Chinese Foot Spa bearing her name at 159 W. Kellogg Road in Bellingham.
Regulators alleged that Li didn’t have a massage license but operated a business that advertised massage and employed unlicensed workers.
The state also fined her $1,000.
A woman who identified herself as Ping Li on the phone said Thursday, May 26, that while she doesn’t have a license, she has two employees who do.
The business remained open, she said.
