Hundreds of young athletes will flock to Lake Padden Park from 8 a.m. to about 3:30 p.m. Saturday, May 21, for the annual Junior Ski to Sea Race, an event for youngsters and families that’s part of the community spirit linked to the big race on Memorial Day weekend.
Some 120 six-member teams of third-graders and older will compete in a five-event relay consisting of running, a back-to-back ball carry, biking, soccer and an obstacle course. Registration is closed but people still can go and watch for free.
Events will be on the east side of the park, near the playground, ball fields and dog park.
