Are your kids ready? Ski to Sea Junior Parade marches on Friday
Downtown Bellingham streets are bound to be packed with participants and spectators in the annual Ski to Sea Junior Parade at 6 p.m. Friday, May 20.
Participants will assemble at 4:15 p.m. at Cornwall Avenue and Kearney Street north of Bellingham High, with judging at 4:30 p.m. A grand prize will be awarded, as will honors for best pet, best large float, best small float, best group, best decorated bike, best novelty, a judges award, and first-, second-, and third-place band awards.
Parade route goes south on Cornwall Avenue, turning east at Champion Street and ending at Railroad Avenue. Expect roads for the parade to close well before the event begins.
Floats, motor vehicles and marching bands had to be registered early. Anyone else can join just by showing up. No candy may be distributed during the parade. Distribution of items, literature or other material is permitted only behind the crowd on the sidewalk. Entries advocating, opposing or depicting any political, religious or social issues are subject to approval.
