Summer bike rides roll across Whatcom County starting May 1

BELLINGHAM

Whatcom Smart Trips and the Mount Baker Bicycle Club are planning a series of free community bike rides through summer, starting this weekend.

Each ride will have a theme and be about 7 miles long on easy terrain. Rides, led by certified ride leaders, will start at 1 p.m. on the first Sunday of the month from May through September.

The Summer Rides Series kickoff is at 1 p.m. Sunday, May 1, from the parking lot at McNett Corp., 1411 Meador Ave. The month’s theme is “From Local to Global.”
