Cluster of Ferndale townhomes planned off Main Street
An undeveloped patch of land near the intersection of Main Street and Hendrickson Avenue may soon be home to a new townhome subdivision, according to city documents.
The development is planned for a 3.8-acre plot just south and slightly west of the intersection, according to an application signed in January by the landowner, Deming-based Filippini LLC. The project includes 11 fourplexes and space for parking, according to the plans.
The development will be tucked into an area that already has a number of apartments and townhomes.
Ramon Llanos, the project’s engineer, said developers would like to begin work this year, starting with the 500-foot road leading into the property that will end with a cul-de-sac.
“It’s zoned for multifamily residential,” said Ferndale assistant planner Haylie Miller of the area. “So that’s what we would like to see there.”
A report from Ferndale’s Community Development Department recommends that the City Council approve the application. The council is expected to make a decision at its next meeting on April 4, Miller said.
