Annual gem and mineral show March 26, 27 in Bellingham
Members of the Mount Baker Rock & Gem Club are hosting their annual free Gem and Mineral Show from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, March 26, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 27, at Bloedel-Donovan Park, 2214 Electric Ave.
Some two dozen display cases will be featured at the show, including the popular fluorescent rock collection and specimens of rocks, fossils, gems and minerals collected by club members.
In addition, there will be vendors selling rocks, gems, minerals and fossils, plus jewelry, crafts, books and lapidary supplies. The show features a food concession, door prizes and a raffle to raise money for a scholarship awarded annually to a Western Washington University geology student.
There will be activities for children, demonstrations of how rocks are cut and polished, and the popular gold-panning exhibit.
