Entry period open for Essence of Bellingham photo contest

Entries are being accepted for the annual Essence of Bellingham digital photography contest sponsored by the city of Bellingham and Whatcom Museum.

It’s free to enter, and awards are given for a variety of ages and categories, from children to adult and amateur to professional. Deadline is 4:30 p.m. May 1, 2016.

Photos must have been taken between Jan. 1, 2015, and May 1, 2016. Entries should be appropriate for all ages and must be of “subjects within or related to the city of Bellingham.” Entries may appear in Whatcom Museum and city of Bellingham publications and in other media.

Entries are being limited to five per person this year, down from 10 in previous years. Preferred photo resolution is 2,300-by-1,840 pixels or greater.
