Winds gusts up to 40 miles per hour and balmy temperatures in the high 50s hit Bellingham on a blustery Tuesday, March 1, but no significant power outages were recorded in Whatcom County.
A wind advisory issued by the National Weather Service remained in effect until 9 p.m.
The advisory called for southerly winds 20 to 35 mph with much stronger gusts that could break loose tree limbs and cause power outages. The winds are expected across western Whatcom and Skagit counties and along the Washington coastline.
The wind gusts also could make it difficult for those driving tall vehicles, the weather service noted.
