Rutsatz Road just east of Highway 9, south of Deming, will be reduced to one lane at times for the next two weeks for emergency repairs.
The road about 600 feet east of the highway is at risk from erosion from the north fork Nooksack River, according to Whatcom County Public Works.
A project to stabilize the bank and protect Rutsatz is expected to start Monday, Feb. 29. Work is scheduled 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. seven days a week until the project is completed. Poor weather could delay the work.
During the work, flaggers will control traffic when needed. People are asked to use caution when traveling through the construction area.
