Heavy rains through Friday, Jan. 22, could push the Nooksack River to flood in areas.

The National Weather Service issued a flood watch through Friday night because of the flood potential.

However, as of Thursday afternoon, the Northwest River Forecast Center was predicting the Nooksack would crest just below flood level at Acme, Nugents Corner and Ferndale on Friday. That could change depending on rainfall and runoff.

Check the river forecasts at www.nwrfc.noaa.gov/rfc/ and flood watches or warnings at www.weather.gov (enter your ZIP code for local information).
