Costco leads pack for low gas prices in state
Costco remains the low price leader when it comes to gas in Washington state, according to a new national study.
GasBuddy’s report indicates that Costco not only provides the lowest in Washington, but across the U.S. for the fourth year in a row. In Washington, Costco was on average 26.8 cents cheaper than its competitors. Excluding wholesale club gas stations, Fred Meyer had the lowest prices in Washington, averaging 16.9 cents less than its competitors.
Meanwhile gas prices continue to tumble in Washington. According to AAA Washington, the average price for a gallon of gas in Bellingham was $2.26 on Wednesday, Jan. 20, down 13 cents from a week ago but 5 cents higher than a year ago. The least expensive gas in Washington’s major metro areas was in Richland, averaging $2.10 a gallon, while the most expensive is in Seattle, at $2.43 a gallon.
