A Ferndale and Lynden scouting group is collecting old computers, monitors, printers, keyboards, copiers, TVs, scrap metal, electric cords, wires or other items made of metal to keep toxins out of landfills.

Old cars, running or not, also are being accepted, as are most appliances except refrigerators or freezers. Many items are accepted for free while a small fee is charged for some.

The group, part of the Baden-Powell Service Association, believes in being good stewards of the environment. It’s a co-ed scouting organization for ages 3 to 18.

Take the items to the drop-off site on Hannegan Road across from DeWaard & Bode’s outlet store, 5175 Hannegan Road. Items will be accepted during the following hours:

▪ 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 7 and 14.

▪ 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 8 and 15.

▪ 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 9 and 16.
