The Downtown Bellingham Partnership board of directors has hired an interim executive director as it begins a search for a new leader.

Alice Clark will take over as the interim director, replacing Nick Hartrich, who resigned in mid-December. Clark will begin on Monday, Jan. 4, and help the partnership search for a new director, according to a news release from the nonprofit organization.

Clark was the longtime executive director at the Pickford Film Center, helping raise $3.25 million to renovate a building at 1318 Bay St. She left the position in 2013 to start her own business, Alice’s Pies.

“We’re delighted Alice is available to step into this role and support the Partnership with her skills and nonprofit expertise,” said Olivia Burkland, Downtown Bellingham Partnership board president, in a press release. “She will provide great leadership and organizational stability so we can continue to focus on supporting and promoting downtown Bellingham.”

Clark has served on a variety of nonprofit boards over the past 16 years including the Bellingham Cultural Round Table, Bellingham Tourism Commission, Bellingham Bay Foundation and the Bellingham City Club.
