Bellingham cold-weather shelters to open Dec. 30

Cold-weather shelters will open starting Wednesday night, Dec. 30, because the forecast calls for overnight lows in the 20s.

The men’s shelter is at the Lighthouse Mission Drop-In Center, 1013 W. Holly St.

The women’s shelter is in a fairly new location this time, at the Lighthouse Mission chapel at 910 W. Holly.

A hot meal is served at 4:30 p.m, with the shelters opening at 5:30 p.m.

Interfaith Coalition, which runs the shelters in partnership with the mission, expected they will be open through Saturday night. To check their status, call the shelter hotline at 360-788-7983.
