The Cedar Point Trail at Lily Point Marine Park has been closed because it is unstable.

A storm caused a slide that affected the trail and led to the instability, according to a news release from the Whatcom County Parks and Recreation Department.

It’s unknown how long the trail in Point Roberts will remain closed as the parks department evaluates how to restore access to the route.

The county acquired the property that became the park in 2008 with the help of Whatcom Land Trust and The Nature Conservancy.

The park has more than 275 acres with 1.4 miles of shoreline along Boundary Bay.

Park improvements included a trailhead off APA Road with parking and restrooms, trails through forested uplands, viewpoints and shoreline access.

There are two other trails at the park.
