Wanted: Ideas to address homelessness, other needs in Whatcom
The Volunteer Center of Whatcom County wants people to create their own volunteer projects and will give away more than $9,000 for supplies and materials to the ones that are selected.
The application deadline is Jan. 1 for the Dream Design Create projects. Projects will be selected by mid-January.
Although the program is geared toward youths from elementary school through college, people of all ages may submit a short proposal.
The center wants proposed projects to focus on community needs, including homelessness, disaster preparedness, tutors and mentors, environmental stewardship, and transportation needs for both service veterans and people using food banks.
