Bellingham climate march planned for Sunday
A local climate march will take place at 10 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 29, as part of marches planned around the world on the eve of the COP21 Climate Change Summit in France.
In Whatcom County, marchers will meet at Maritime Heritage Park and remember those who were killed in the recent attacks in Paris. Then they will receive a blessing from Lummi Nation Tribal Chairman Tim Ballew and march toward the Salish Sea Marine Sanctuary at 1308 Cornwall Ave.
The marchers plan to call on world leaders to take tough climate action and demand a rapid transition to clean power.
Lummi Nation also will preview a recently produced film about climate change impacts that will be screened at the summit in Paris.
