Hovander Homestead Park will be closed Wednesday and Thursday, Nov. 18 and 19, due to flooding.

Rain in the last two days has caused portions of the Nooksack River to flood. The river was nearing flood stage in Ferndale around 1 p.m. Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.

Whatcom County Parks & Recreation decided Wednesday to close the park, including Tennant Lake Interpretive Center and the Fragrance Garden.

The flooding is expected to recede Thursday, Nov. 19. The county anticipates the park should reopen Friday.
