Food drive at Haggen will support Meals on Wheels
A food drive from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, will gather food and other items for emergency meals for homebound seniors. Meals on Wheels and More, along with Dewey Griffin Subaru and Haggen, will hold “Stuff the Trunk” events at the five Haggen grocery stores in Whatcom County.
At each store, people can put donated items in the trunk of a new Subaru. Donations will be delivered to about 175 Whatcom Meals on Wheels participants in early December.
Suggested donations include canned tuna; canned chili, soup or stew; peanut butter; canned fruit and vegetables; hot cereal; cocoa, tea and coffee; soup and crackers; and granola and breakfast bars. Suggested non-food items include toilet paper, paper towels, can openers, flashlights and blankets.
Donations also can be dropped off at Bellingham Senior Activity Center, 315 Halleck St., and at Dewey Griffin, 1800 Iowa St.
