Abortion survivor will share her story at Meridian High

A woman who was born after a failed abortion will share her story Tuesday, Nov. 17.

Gianna Jessen, an abortion opponent who has testified before the U.S., United Kingdom and Australian governments, will speak at the Meridian High School Auditorium at 6:30 p.m.

Her story inspired a 2011 movie called “October Baby.”

Tuesday’s event is free and open to the public. Registration is not required.

It is not a school event, said Meridian School District Superintendent Tom Churchill. He said the high school auditorium is commonly rented out to a variety of groups for use.

The Family Policy Institute of Washington says it is co-sponsoring the event along with the Whatcom County Pregnancy Clinic, state Rep. Dave Taylor, R-Moxee, and former legislator Jason Overstreet of Lynden.
