Veterans Day 2015: Nooksack grad served two combat stints

Marine Corps Major John Meixner, a graduate of Nooksack High School, served two combat deployments in Operation Iraqi Freedom. He is now a recruiting station commanding officer in Harrisburg, Pa., where he was photographed with his wife, Megan, and their three boys, Tom, Henry and George.

Marine Corps Major John Meixner is a 2000 graduate of Nooksack High School and a 2004 graduate of the United States Naval Academy.

He served two combat deployments in Operation Iraqi Freedom, receiving the Purple Heart, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with Combat Distinguishing Device, The Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with Combat Distinguishing Device, and the Combat Action Ribbon

He currently serving as the recruiting station commanding officer in Harrisburg, Pa.

Susan McKissick, sister of John Meixner, lives in Nooksack.
