Ready to decide on coal
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers said in an email to The Bellingham Herald on Monday, Nov. 9, it is formulating its decision on whether to halt the Gateway Pacific Terminal at Cherry Point. Lummi Nation requested the move in January, to protect its treaty fishing rights. “We are analyzing the information we have been provided to date and proceeding with formulating a recommendation” to the Seattle district commander, Corps spokeswoman Patricia Graesser said. The Corps says it has no deadline or anticipated date for its decision.

Gov. Jay Inslee will do a live Q & A at 7 p.m. Tuesday, and Washington residents can ask him questions via Twitter (hashtag #askthegov) or using this Web form. The event, At Kane Hall on the University of Washington campus, will air live on KCTS 9 and also be streamed on KCTS9.org/programs/ask-governor.
Western is military friendly
Western Washington University has been named a military-friendly school for the sixth straight year by militaryfriendly.com. A total of 28 institutions in Washington state earned that distinction, according to the website.
