What’s closed in Whatcom County for Veterans Day
Government offices, schools and many other places will be closed for Veterans Day, Wednesday, Nov. 11.
Most retail stores and restaurants will be open, though some places may have limited hours.
Here is a list of some key places and their status for Wednesday. When in doubt, call ahead. Also, if you’re headed to Canada, it’s a holiday there as well, so check in advance on your destinations.
Government Offices
Whatcom County offices: Closed.
Bellingham city offices: Closed.
Whatcom County library branches: Closed.
Bellingham Public Libraries: Closed.
Bellingham parking meters: Not enforced.
Services/Businesses
Banks: Most are closed; call ahead to confirm.
U.S. Postal Service: Closed, no mail delivery.
Garbage: Regular pickup schedule for SSC and Nooksack Valley Disposal, but trucks likely will be earlier than usual. Customers with Wednesday pickup are advised to put out their trash and recycling Tuesday night.
WTA buses: Running on regular schedules.
The Bellingham Herald: Offices open, regular newspaper delivery.
Movie theaters: Open.
Grocery stores: Most have regular hours.
Bellis Fair mall: Open.
Cascade Ambulance: Operating 24 hours.
Schools
Public Schools: Closed.
Whatcom Community College: Closed.
Western Washington University: Closed.
Bellingham Technical College: Closed.
Northwest Indian College: Closed.
