Annual Literacy Breakfast With Nancy Pearl

7 a.m., Bellingham Technical College, 3028 Lindbergh Ave., Bellingham. Donations suggested. 360-752-7000. Each year, Whatcom Literacy Council helps hundreds of adults in Whatcom County build their literacy skills and move forward in their lives. The funds raised at the Annual Literacy Breakfast help make that possible. The witty and wonderful Nancy Pearl, author of “Book Lust,” “More Book Lust,” “Book Crush” and “Book Lust To Go,” will be back again this year to share her thoughts on some of the best reads available.

“Alive Inside” 5 p.m. Mount Baker Theatre, 104 N. Commercial St. $10; 360-671-3316. The Bellingham at Orchard and the Alzheimer Society of Washington have partnered to show “Alive Inside,” a documentary that advocates for the use of music therapy for dementia patients. You'll also hear from dementia coach Reed Henry about the stages of dementia. Tickets are available at the door for a $10 donation, all of which will go straight to the Alzheimer Society of Washington, to benefit local families affected by this disease.

Fairhaven Gives Back

10 a.m.-6 p.m., Historic Fairhaven District, Harris Ave., Bellingham. When you’re doing your holiday shopping this year, don’t just pay; pay it forward. That’s the message of Fairhaven Gives Back, an annual event hosted by the Historic Fairhaven Association. When shoppers make a purchase at participating Fairhaven businesses or restaurants, 10 percent of the sale is donated to the nonprofit of the shopper’s choosing from a list of 13 Whatcom charities. Since the event was first launched in 2013, Fairhaven Gives Back has raised more than $3500 for local nonprofits.

Paws for the Party

8 p.m.-11 p.m., Bellingham Cruise Terminal, 355 Harris Ave., Bellingham. $15 WeSNiP, the Whatcom Education, Spay & Neuter Impact Program, is celebrating its 15,000th spay and /neuter surgery with dance music, games, prizes and a no-host bar. Sumas Center Pancake breakfast Fundraiser

8-11 a.m., Sumas Community Center, 461 W. 2nd St. By donation. 360-988-2714. Sumas Lion’s Club and Senior Center members will be cooking up pancakes, scrambled eggs and sausage links. Also guess the number of candies in the jar to win the jar and the candy. Plants for sale by donation.

Veterans Breakfast

8-11:30 a.m., Bellingham Senior Activity Center, 315 Halleck St. Free for veterans, $6 for adults, $4 for children Menu: pancakes, biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs, sausage, fruit and yogurt parfaits, and beverages. There will be a performance from the Pakawalups, a USO-style harmonizing trio, at 11 a.m.

Bellingham Covenant Church Women's Ministry 35th Annual Holiday Bazaar

9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Bellingham Covenant Church, 1530 East Bakerview Road. We have 60 vendors and a wonderful array of their handcrafted items, a bake sale and espresso booth. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the youth ministries, and Love, Inc. 360-671-1022

Ferndale Heritage Society Annual Christmas Bazaar

8:30 a.m.-3 p.m., Pioneer Park, 2004 Cherry St., Ferndale. 360-384-6461. We fill the Tillicum House, Log Cabin Church, and the small meeting room in the Pioneer Pavilion in Pioneer Park. All proceeds go into the club funds for maintaining the Historic Log Cabin Museums in Pioneer Park.

Trinkets and Treasures Holiday Craft Market

9 a.m.-4 p.m., Ferndale High School, 5830 Golden Eagle Dr., Ferndale. 360-383-9240. The Ferndale Band Boosters hosts its annual holiday craft market in the Ferndale High gymnasium. The nonprofit event will feature craft and food vendors, a bake sale, espresso, music and businesses. This is a fundraiser for the Ferndale High School Band.

Project Santa Cruise for the Kids

10 a.m.-1 p.m., Whatcom County Courthouse, 311 Grand St., Bellingham. Entry fee = toys or $ donations for the kids. 360-676-6700. Collector Car Cruise and Show to support the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office Project Santa. Collector cars gather at 4285 Meridian St., near Costco and at 10:30 sharp cruise to the courthouse. Bring toys and donations to the courthouse for the car show. Trophies and raffles, plus dash plaques for entrants, coffee and cookies. Sponsored by the 4th Corner Elites Car Club of Bellingham. Watch the cars go by on Meridian Street or come down to the courthouse from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., see the cars and make a donation.

Bellingham Circus Guild’s Second Annual Holiday Bazaar

5 p.m., Bellingham Circus Guild, 1401 6th St. The Bellingham Circus Guild is hosting the Holiday Bazaar at Vaudevillingham! Sunday, Nov. 15 and Tuesday Dec. 15, at the Cirque Lab. John Rollins Benefit

7 p.m., Fairhaven Library, 1117 12th St. $15, 360-778-7188, Musicians from Bellingham and Seattle will be performing early music, flamenco and Brazilian music. The event includes a silent auction of donated musical instruments. John Rollins is a longtime and highly regarded local luthier who was injured in January and his friends are raising funds to assist with his medical expenses.

Small Glories Concert

7:30 p.m. St Paul Episcopal Church's Old Parish Hall at 2116 Walnut St. Suggested Donation: $15. Dynamic duo Cara Luft, co-founder of The Wailin' Jennys, and JD Edwards will be in Bellingham for only one night. Benefitting the Maple Alley Inn, which provides home-cooked meals to anyone who needs one on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Pancake Breakfast

8-11 a.m., VFW Post 9301, 7011 Hannegan Rd. $6; free for children 5 and under. Support your local veterans at the VFW Post 9301’s pancake breakfast, held on the third Saturday of each month. It includes pancakes, sausage, eggs, milk, coffee and juice.

Bazaar Gardenview Montessori 9th Annual Family Friendly Holiday Bazaar

9 a.m.-3 p.m., Hillcrest Chapel, 1400 Larrabee Ave. 360-733-8400. The Gardenview Bazaar and Silent Auction is a project supported by parents and friends of Gardenview Montessori Pre-School and Kindergarten.
