Zombies, vampires, Donald Trump, Yoda and Beeker took over the downtown Bellingham streets Saturday night. If you missed Thrillingham or the costumes, check out this gallery. The annual Fairhaven Trick or Treat was rainy but full of colorful kid costumes. Darth Vader and the Seven Dwarfs (not together, though what a crossover that would be) were among the Downtown Trick or Treat highlights on Friday.

North Cascades Highway to have overnight closures
If you’re considering a late night trip to or from Eastern Washington this week, plan ahead. The North Cascades Highway (SR20), will have two full overnight closures from Tuesday, Nov. 3, to Thursday morning, Nov. 5. The highway will be closed from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. each night between Newhalem (milepost 121) and Diablo Street (milepost 126) so Seattle City Light crews can repair some systems damaged in last summer’s Goodell Creek fire.

Woman who placed own obit arrested on murder charge
The Whidbey News-Times reports a local woman who submitted her own obituary notice was later arrested in California on suspicion of killing her sister.
BTC apprenticeship breakfast Tuesday
Bellingham Technical College has teamed up with the Aerospace Joint Apprenticeship Committee to offer two new apprenticeship opportunities for employees of local advanced manufacturing companies. Companies interested in sending their employees through the programs— for machining and precision metal fabrication, and industrial maintenance mechanics — can learn more at a free continental breakfast 7:30-9 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, hosted in conjunction with the Port of Bellingham at the Technology Development Center, 1000 F St.
