Weekend flood watch issued for Whatcom County
The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for Whatcom County that will be in effect from Friday evening, Oct. 30, through Sunday afternoon.
The heaviest rains — about 4 to 8 inches — are forecast over the Cascade Mountains on Friday and Saturday. That could cause some flooding in area rivers. Minor street flooding also is possible.
The flood watch means conditions are favorable for flooding, but flooding is not imminent or occurring.
Bellingham’s forecast calls for up to three-quarters of an inch of rain Saturday with a high of 60 degrees, according to the NWS. Showers are likely to continue Saturday night and into the next day. The high Sunday should be near 54 degrees.
