A free public event called “What’s Next: Medicare Awareness” will be held Oct. 14 at Bellingham Senior Activity Center with information on such topics as Medicare, fraud prevention, beneficiary needs, and benefits for veterans.
The program, which will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the center, 315 Halleck St., is presented in partnership with the Whatcom Alliance for Health Advancement and Statewide Health Insurance Benefits Advisors.
The morning session, starting at 9:15, will provide a basic overview of Medicare and ways to detect and report Medicare fraud and abuse. After a lunch break from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., topics include information that Medicare beneficiaries need to get the best out of their plan, and Medicare options for veterans.
People from community organizations will attend with information, including Regence Blue Shield, Opportunity Council, Wallace – Rice Benefits, Vibrant Senior Options, Group Health Cooperative, Soundpath Health, Northwest Regional Council, Infusion Solutions, and Northwest Dental Services.
