Gun deaths

The Oregonian has created a map showing gun deaths per 100,000 county residents in the U.S. from 2004 to 2010. It uses data from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In Whatcom County, that death rate was 9.71.

Salmon spawning video

PANS awareness potluck

Parents of children with a little known illness caled Pediatric Acute-onset Neurospsyciatric Syndrome and a related illness known as PANDAS will share information during a potluck at 5:15 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9 at Highland Heights Park, off Vining Street in Bellingham. All are welcome to learn more about the illness, treatment and frequent misdiagnosis, according to organizers.
