Staff and volunteers at Film is Truth packed up all the DVDs and videos at its Holly Street location overnight Wednesday and reopened Thursday, Oct. 1, in its new location in the Bellingham Public Market.
The video rental store has been transitioning from a retail business into a nonprofit organization. Part of the reason for the move to the market, 1530 Cornwall Ave., is to take advantage of the community center there, board members said.
Film is Truth is expanding its offerings to include community education and resources for regional filmmakers, with classes, workshops, and opportunities for interactions between local and regional film lovers. It has also been expanding its already large collection of movies.
The store had been on Holly Street for about 17 years.

Film is Truth has also started a Kickstarter campaign to help pay for moving expenses and the transition into a nonprofit organization. Staff will be talking about the campaign at the upcoming Art Walk event on Friday, Oct. 2.
